1.
Schedule on your day off
For you to get the most out of your treatment, it's best to schedule when there is not a lot of activity planned later- especially if it's your first treatment. Those familiar with Shiatsu and its effects sometimes prefer the opposite, like a musician on a day of performance. However, in my experience, most people prefer to be treated on days when the rest of the day won't be very demanding. For more about what to expect from the treatment, click here.

2. Schedule around eating
Not only may it be difficult to relax and lay flat if you've just had a large meal, but digestion should proceed without too much distraction, as a rule. Especially during the initial stages, the food is being transformed; there are many factors at work. Digestive juices are being added, in preparation for the nutrients and essence which will be extracted. Three hours after eating is ideal, but 1 hour will suffice. 3. Wear loose, flexible clothing
You will want to be comforable, and you would not want to limit the treatment's effects by wearing restrictive clothing. Some examples of what would work best are: exercise clothing, or sweatpants and T-shirt. An example of what might not work would be denim jeans, or anything tight-fitting and not flexible.

4. Review your history
My intake process factors in major influences in present health and lifestyle as well as past history. Any kind of conditions, accidents, surgeries, diagnoses, and the healing processes thereafter will be reviewed. This is an overview of your history and can be as brief as you are comforable with. Keep in mind that more information gathered is better, as this makes possible the accurate adjustment of how I apply the treatment.

5. Turn off electronics if needed
This is primarily for your benefit; some people are quite startled when their phone rings during treatments.
Unless the ring is extremely loud, it probably wouldn't bother me.
Another influence which can distract many people is the presence of wind: a ceiling fan, or
proximity to an air conditioning vent can make some people uncomfortable.
Again, this wouldn't bother me and is for your benefit.

6. Treatment cost
The only way my cost increases is when you are located outside of Orleans Parish and parts of Jefferson Parish. The cost is $75 per session, not per hour, period. The session itself is usually just over an hour, and we will need time to catch up; you'll need one and a half to two hours. For more about the treatment, click here.

7. Prepare the treatment space
Some people like to burn incense or do a little yoga or breathing. Others need to move a piece of furniture to make room for my mat. If you need assistance with any of this, please don't hesitate to ask. All you will need to do is prepare a clean, comfortable healing space; if you already have one, then you're ready!
